Our Mission Statement
Recognizing
that God has blessed us with a wondrously abundant universe as well as the
intellectual capacity to wisely use this abundance. We at Aloha
Systems strive to assist our world in its use of energy and
technology, Balancing to the best of human ability consumption,
environment, and economics. In providing these services, Aloha Systems will
create meaningful work for its employees, make a profit for the company, and
enhance the world we all share.

Aloha Systems, Inc. History
Aloha
Systems was founded in 1987 in Santa Ana, California, as a minority-owned
company by Jeffery M. Shirilau, a general contractor and computer programmer
partly of Native Hawaiian descent. The company's first contract was
developing a software system to analyze end-use data collected in utility
demand-side management research. The kahili, the feathered emblem of the
Hawaiian monarchy, became our corporate logo.
Two
years later, Dr. Mark S. Shirilau left his position at Southern California
Edison to join Aloha Systems as its executive vice president and chief
technical officer. Mark had been responsible for the development,
management, and implementation of the $4-million Residential Energy Usage
Comparison Project cosponsored by EPRI as well as other residential,
commercial, and industrial energy management research projects at SCE. He
also supervised the technical group of the conservation program and worked
on the development of major solar, wind, and other renewable energy power
plants.
The
company continued to grow and provide consulting services to several
utilities throughout the western United States and Canada. In 1993, upon the
death of Jeffery, Mark Shirilau took over as president and CEO. Aloha has
continued to provide load research services and has expanded to include
consulting in power quality, facility energy management, and utility
mitigation of Y2k problems.
